A contribution to the history of the alpine flora of the Sierra Nevada : dissertation (Ph.D. in Botany), University of California, Berkeley, 1940.

In addition to the dissertation there is correspondence between Sharsmith and Herbert L. Mason, 1943, concerning possible publication of the work in the journal MADRONO. Mason was the chairman of the editorial board at the time. The hope did not materialize, apparently due to the size (hence cost of publishing) of the manuscript.
